10618NAT Course in Firearms Safety (approved for firearms licensing in Queensland)

To use/own a Paintball gun you will need to undertake a basic introduction to the firearms industry, this course covers the skills and knowledge essential to firearms legislation, firearms in the community, licensing requirements, safe handling, safe storage and transport, as well as additional information which is essential to all shooters.

This course, although directly aiming toward Paintball guns, covers Category A & B weapons for sports/target, recreational shooting activities. Examples of firearms under these categories include:

  • Air Rifles
  • Single and Double Barrel Shotguns
  • Bolt Action Rifles
  • Lever Action Rifles
  • Pump Action Rifles
  • Muzzle Loading Firearm
  • Combination Guns (Rifle and Shotgun)
  • Semi-Auto Pistols
  • Revolvers
  • Paintball Guns

This course covers the following units:

  • WSCQPS001A Demonstrate knowledge of firearms legislation, firearms and community safety
  • WSCQPS002A Demonstrate the safe use of category A and B firearms

As far as the safety course goes, Queensland Training Centre is well equipped to give you the right skills and advice. Currently we are running the courses every couple of weeks and you can give us a call to express your interest. The Paintball safety course goes for a couple of hours and we can cater for single one on one sessions or larger group bookings. The safety course involves covering legislative requirements of holding a category A/B licence, a discussion on the safety of paintball and live fire exercises. At a Queensland Training Centre Firearms Safety Course for Paintball, we include a run down on compressed air safety, paintball gas bottles including refilling & velocity checking (chronographing) of paintball markers. We will also discuss factors such as the storage and transportation requirements.

Firearms Licensing in QLD is administered by the QLD Police Weapons Licensing Branch. Information regarding the licence application process is provided during the course. For more information about licensing or to lodge an online application click here

Note – as part of the licence application, applicants are required to submit evidence of their genuine reason for a firearms licence. Examples of this include:

Sports/Target ShootingMembership of a Approved Paintball Club
Occupational Requirement (including Primary Producers)Details of your property and the requirement for firearms or a letter from your employer outlining the requirement for you to use firearms

All Queensland Training Centres’ licensed qualified instructors are provided with the same powerpoint presentation to present the courses throughout Qld. This is part of QTC’s quality assurance that all students are trained in the same manner. We can then assure that all our trainers are using and presenting the same Firearms Safety course for Nat 10618 time after time.

Qld Training Centre RTO. 40463 Guarantees all applicants undertaking any of our NAT 10618 Firearms safety course offered and completed by one of our qualified instructed throughout Qld that your Statement of Attainment will be issued within 24 hours after the QTC office has received the relevant student details from the trainer confirming that you have completed and been deemed competent in the categories you are under taking.

Certificates will be emailed directly to the applicant with a copy to the trainer. A hard copy can be mailed if requested by the student.

The statement of attainment is valid for twelve months from the date of issue.

There are an easy way to justify your paintball marker license. Queensland Training Centre works in conjunction with Paintball centres around QLD to provide extensive Firearms Safety Training Courses in an environment that suits the application, we can provide a letter to confirm that you are an active player and can in some circumstances extend an exclusive 6 Month membership to our partnered Paintball centre upon completion of our Paintball Firearms Safety Course Package – The Package includes: Category A and B Certification (Valid for 12 months, issued within 24 hours), perks related to the particular partnered Paintball Centre (these may include free paintballs, gear hire etc), a FREE First PTA (Permit to Acquire) to purchase your first paintball gun, and FREE brokerage fee.

Course Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for 10618NAT Course in Firearms Safety (Approved for Firearms Licensing in Queensland).

This course meets the training requirements to apply for a QLD Weapons Licence for categories A, B and H.

Entry Requirements

In order to participate in this course, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be over 18 years of age (or have written consent from parent/guardian to attend)
  2. Must not have any physical or other impairment which would prevent you from handling firearms safely – if unsure, seek advice from your GP or contact us to discuss suitability
  3. Must not have any criminal convictions (relating to drug use, violence or weapons) in the past five years
  4. Must not have been a subject to a domestic violence order in the past five years
  5. Must not have been a subject to an involuntary mental health order in the past five years
